About Hope and Fail

Right around President Barack Obama’s 100th day in office, I began working to compile a list of his mistakes up until that point.
The goal was to reach the magic number of 100 — in order to chronicle 100 mistakes in 100 days.
The task grew, to include members of his administration, the transition, etc. At some point, I thought it would be a great idea to have a central place to look up the administration’s mistakes with links to the news accounts that reported them.
Thus, Hope & Fail was born.
It is growing, and I’m slowly catching up on the mistakes from the first six or so months of the administration. It has proven to be more time consuming than I originally thought, but will be well worth the effort once it’s all caught up.
How things make it on the list
As the tagline notes, were compiling gaffes, lies, mistakes and broken promises. Most should be pretty self explanatory: A lie is, well, a lie — deliberately passing on faulty information, telling us something that isn’t true. A gaffe is, generally, misspeaking — from the small slip ups to the big ones. Broken promises are when the administration tells one thing, and then does another — including campaign promises that don’t make it passed Inauguration Day.
Mistakes are a bit more arbitrary. What we won’t list are things that qualify as mere partisan disagreements. While we view raising taxes and expanding socialism as a massive mistake, it’s par for the course with a Democratic administration, so we won’t list those as such.
Corrections
Accuracy is important to us. If we list something on this site that isn’t factual, it is our policy to remove it once the error comes to our attention. If you notice anything to be inaccurate, please let us know by sending an e-mail to info@hopeandfail.com or by using the contact form below.
About the chronology
We date the posts here to coincide with the date of the mistake — not the date on which the post is written. Therefore, the most recently-added posts don’t necessarily appear in the chronology. However, we’ve got a list of the most recent posts on the front page.
