Chairman Mao on the White House Christmas tree

Ornaments bearing the images of Chairman Mao, a transvestite and President Obama on Mt. Rushmore are hanging from the White House Christmas tree in the Blue Room this season.

These photos of ornaments on the White House Christmas tree in the Blue Room were taken just days ago. Of course, Mao has his place in the White House.

And, of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without an ornament of legendary transvestite Hedda Lettuce.

… And, so soon after collecting the Nobel Peace Prize, why wouldn’t the White House have an ornament super-imposing President Obama onto Mt. Rushmore.

Simon Doonan, creative director of Barneys, commissioned the ornaments. He explains that among the many treasures in the White House’s Christmas storage unit were 800 “hideous” silver balls. He sent them out across the country to have citizens decorate them.

Good idea, actually. But someone should have checked them out before hanging them on the tree.

Fox News’ Bret Baier reports that the White House says it was “unaware” of the decorations.

Did anyone screen these balls? Or was it more of a State Dinner “come one come all” thing, because this bulb featuring an image of Mao Tse-Tung strikes me as a bit, um, off.

I get that Warhol’s Mao subverts the icon or whatever, but, does it really make sense to put a tyrannical communist leader’s visage on the American president’s Christmas tree? On the other hand, an ornament that shellacks Barry’s face onto Mount Rushmore…

…is just tacky. It’s in the guy’s living room, for crying out loud.

Tacky is right. But it makes the transvestites looking for cheap self-promotion happy.
