Health care presser lies, Pt. 6: Saying insurance companies are taking in record profits

During his press conference today, President Obama said health insurance companies have been making record profits, when most health care costs go to doctors, hospitals and other providers.

From the New York Times:

The president said that health insurance companies were making “record profits.” America’s Health Insurance Plans, the main lobby for insurers, contends that “for every $1 spent on health care in America, approximately one penny goes to health plans’ profits.”
