DAY 184

Health care presser lies, Pt. 3: Claiming to not blame Republicans after … blaming Republicans

President Obama said during his health care press conference that he hasn’t been blaming Republicans for putting up roadblocks to health care reform, but in his opening statement he clearly blamed Republicans.

From the Associated Press:

OBAMA: “You haven’t seen me out there blaming the Republicans.”

THE FACTS: Obama did so in his opening statement, saying, “I’ve heard that one Republican strategist told his party that even though they may want to compromise, it’s better politics to ‘go for the kill.’ Another Republican senator said that defeating health reform is about ‘breaking’ me.”

Did the president assume the press wasn’t paying attention to his opening statement?
