Weakness in art

President Obama has selected this art piece, "I Think I'll ...," by artist Ed Ruscha to hang in the White House.
While Ed Morrissey at Hot Air is right that President Obama’s selections of art for the White House isn’t a big deal, and neither is his distribution of pieces chosen by previous presidents back to their original owners. There was something of a todo about Obama giving a bust of Winston Churchill back to the Brits in the opening days of his administration. But really, he’s done plenty more to offend the English.
But the selection of this piece by artist Ed Ruscha shouldn’t be ignored.
Titled “I Think I’ll …,” the painting features the phrases, “MAYBE … YES …,” “WAIT A MINUTE,” “ON SECOND THOUGHT,” “MAYBE I’LL …” and “MAYBE … NO …”
Those messages aren’t particularly inspiring, especially when you hold the office that arguable has to make some of the most important decisions in the world.
But perhaps, in Obama’s world, they reflect his way of thinking — at least his waffling.
